The Indian Air Force Chief, Air Chief Marshal V R Chaudhari, spoke at the second edition of Def-Tech India, an event organized by PhD Chamber of Commerce and Vision Initiatives. He highlighted the importance of Directed Energy Weapons (DEWs) and Hypersonic Weapons and urged Indian defence industries to push the development of these weapons and integrate them into airborne platforms to achieve the desired range and accuracy.
The IAF Chief emphasized the need for self-reliance in defence, which should encompass evolving home-grown designs and development capabilities by utilizing the Indian defence industry, start-ups, MSMEs and academia to create a self-sustaining defence R&D ecosystem.
He also listed areas where the Indian aerospace industry needs to invest and excel, including AI-assisted military options, unmanned aerial vehicles, and stealth and anti-stealth technologies.
The IAF Chief said that India needs to incorporate and infuse cutting-edge technologies like Quantum Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Autonomous Systems, and the Battle Field of Things in its future projects to produce platforms, weapons, sensors, and networks essential to fight and win a future war.
In modern military aviation, the development of stealth technology has proven to be a crucial factor in gaining an edge over adversaries.
This advancement has led to a cat and mouse game between radars, SAM systems, and attacking aircraft. As a result, there is a growing need for research and development in the field of stealth and anti-stealth technologies.

Indigenous platforms such as LCA Mk 1A, HTT-40 trainers, indigenous weapons, and a wide array of radars will be inducted soon, according to the IAF.
